March 7, 2017 – Faith & Culture: A Mediation on Grief

with Dr. Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz

Season 10, Episode 10

Performance art depicting the fear of losing a child to violence or intolerance. On this episode of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we discuss faith — and anxiety and healing — through the power of art. The artist puts it this way, “I find myself fearing the inherent injustice brown children will endure based on their skin, and grieve for mothers of fallen children. Inspired by Michelangelo’s, ‘Pietá’ I will create a live performance portrait for which I sit and interact tenderly with 33 people of color, the age of Jesus at the time of his execution.” We will talk with the artist, Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz (her art pictured here), about this mediation on grief and what she hopes the audience will learn as they encounter this experience with her. Our conversation with artist Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz, and her performance piece entitled, Pietá — through this mediation on grief is there a way forward to healing? We’ll talk about it with her – you’ll want to hear this installment of Friends Talking Faith.
