February 16, 2016 – Faith & Ethics: The Death Penalty
Season 9, Episode 7
Is it a strong deterrent and appropriate punishment, as some would say, or an antiquated barbaric practice with little effect on crime, as others would assert? On this installment of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we’ll discuss faith and the death penalty. Advocates and opponents strongly debate the death penalty. We’ll spend some time talking about what our faith traditions have to say about the death penalty. But first, we’ll dive into the sometimes thorny and complicated issues surrounding the legal process. The state of Florida has just had a part of its process in capital cases ruled unconstitutional by the United States Supreme Court – we’ll get an expert on the line – Attorney Mark Schlakman – to help us sort out all of that. The death penalty in practice, process, and faith. That conversation on this episode of Friends Talking Faith.
