June 21, 2016 – Faith & Religion: The Pulse Shooting and Trauma
Season 9, Episode 25
It is the deadliest mass shooting in American history, and it happened right here in our hometown of Orlando. A crazed gunman left 49 dead and 53 hospitalized in what has been labeled as both a hate crime and an act of terrorism – On this episode of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we’ll discuss faith and trauma, I’m the Rev. Bryan Fulwider.
Just 10 days ago, the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida, known as both an LGBTQ gathering place and especially a safe place was the target of a deranged psychopath, who claimed an allegiance to ISIL, leaving more than 100 people dead or wounded in the very early hours of Sunday morning just over a week ago. It has left an entire community in various states of deep anger, deep mourning, and deep trauma. We’ll be joined by an expert in the field of posttraumatic stress, and also a Pastor who has been front and center in the delivery of mental health and emotional care to our entire community.
Posttraumatic stress, secondary stress, compassion fatigue, and much more as we all try to begin to move ahead as individuals and as a community in the very recent aftermath of this unthinkable massacre. Please stay with us.
