April 7, 2015 – Faith & Religion: Passover and Slavery-Past and Present
Season 7, Episode 14
On this installment of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we discuss faith, slavery – past and present – and Passover. We’re in the midst of it now, and it’s also called the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Festival of Liberation – Passover commemorates the release of the ancient Jewish community from slavery in Egypt. It marks the beginning of a 40 year journey back to the promised land. Today we’ll discuss the traditions, history, and theology of Passover, especially as it relates to the issue of slavery. We’ll talk about this important Jewish holy day from the perspectives of our three Abrahamic faith traditions. Also, we’ll hear from Mr. Shawn Sullivan (below, right) about an organization – Manna Freedom -working on the ground, and around the world, to stop modern-day slavery and human trafficking. Passover, and slavery – past and present – those conversations are part of this episode of Friends Talking Faith.
