October 7, 2014 – Faith & Politics: Civil Rights and the March on Washington

Season 6, Episode 15

Linda Chapin

County Mayor Linda Chapin

On this episode of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we’ll discuss faith and The Great March on Washington. It was a hot day in late August of 1963 when a quarter-of-a-million Americans gathered on the mall in Washington, DC between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument; and with the great “emancipation president” as their backdrop, some of the most powerful voices and figures of America’s civil rights movement rang out a clarion call for jobs and freedom for ALL Americans. It is heralded as one of the key events in the passage just over 10 months later of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Our guest on this program was in her early 20’s when she attended that life transforming event, we’ll talk to her about that and much more. Former County Mayor, Linda Chapin, remembers the great March on Washington. Listen now!
