September 16, 2014 – Faith & Science: Aging and A “Healthy 100”
Season 6, Episode 12 (Series on Aging: 3 of 3)
On this episode of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we discuss faith, aging, and living to a “healthy 100.” The number has been steadily on the rise in the US. In 1940 it was extremely rare to find anyone who lived to be 100. By 1990 there were over 30,000 – “100 year olds” in the United States, and by 2010 more than 53,000 Americans had claimed the title of centenarian. Florida has the third largest population of 100 plus year-olds, just behind California and New York. What does faith have to say about longevity? Does faith contribute to a longer life? And what about the issue of “health” in relation to a long life? Our very special guest, the Rev. Dr. Des Cummings of Florida Hospital shares his research and insights.
