November 15, 2016 – Faith & Healing: From the Heart of Orlando, After Pulse, Finding Our Way Forward – Together (Series: 1 of 5)
Season 9, Episode 46
The massacre at the Pulse Nightclub has left deep scars on Central Florida. With this episode of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we begin a five-part series which we’re calling “From the Heart of Orlando” — it’s a series on faith and healing. On June twelfth of this year Orlando woke to the news that it had just become the site of the “deadliest mass public shooting in U.S. history.” The murderous attack of a lone gunman left 49 dead and 53 wounded. It left hundreds of grieving family members and close friends, and it left a community in deep shock and sadness. In partnership with the Central Florida Foundation we begin a series today, followed by other programs and community forums over the next several months to help in both the healing process for our community and also to help shape together the kind of future we want to have as a community going forward. We’ll be joined by survivors, their family members and friends, community and religious leaders, and others who will lend their voices to this effort to help all of us in dealing with our grief and finding our way forward in healing and hope, together. On this program we’re joined by Mr. Mark Brewer, President and CEO of the Central Florida Foundation (pictured above, left). Also, we’ll hear the story of Mr. Marco Antonio Quiroga, a member of Central Florida’s Latinx community and the Director of the Contigo Fund (pictured above, right) – all this and more on this installment of Friends Talking Faith.
