July 5, 2016 – Faith & Community: The Pulse Shooting – First Responders
Season 9, Episode 27
We call on them, we count on them, and when difficult or tragic situations arise – we need them! On this episode of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we’ll discuss the Pulse Nightclub shooting, our first responders in the Orlando community and faith. It was in the wee hours of the morning just a little over three weeks ago that our police department, our fire department, our Mayor and other city officials, and our hospitals were alerted to the terrible news of the mass shooting at the popular LGBTQ nightclub, Pulse, in downtown Orlando. We would learn later that morning that 49 human beings had lost their lives, and that 53 had been wounded. It would immediately be tagged as the worst mass shooting in US history. We’ll talk to some of our community leaders about our first responders to that terrible scene, and how those who were on the front lines are dealing with this horrendous massacre which occurred just 23 days ago. We’ll talk with Dr. Jamal Hakim (above, left) of Orlando Health , Orlando Police Department Chief John Mina, and Orlando’s Mayor Buddy Dyer (above, right) — all of those conversations on this installment of Friends Talking Faith.
