February 13, 2018 – Faith & Religion: Resurrection as Communal
with Dr. John Dominic Crossan
Season 11, Episode 7
Has the Christian story and understanding of the resurrection of Jesus been wrong all these years? On this episode of Friends Talking Faith with The Three Wise Guys we’ll discuss faith, religious perceptions and ideas, and how those may change over time, even the Christian understanding of the resurrection of Jesus. In the Christian community the season of Lent, which begins with Ash Wednesday, will commence tomorrow, February 14. We know that it is also Valentine’s Day, and we promise we’ll talk to you about that next week. But today we will focus on a hot topic in Christian conversations and theology – the resurrection of Jesus. Was it a bodily resurrection? A resurrection of the spirit? Or simply a creation of the early church? There are many questions and conversations around this issue of the resurrection of Jesus. But there is a new conversation emerging that certainly bears consideration. The book on the subject has been released on the date of this broadcast, and we have the opportunity to talk with the very popular and sometimes controversial author of that book. Our discussion with Dr. John Dominic Crossan about his book – just released – entitled, “Resurrecting Easter, How the West Lost in the East Kept the Original Easter Vision” – that’s coming up on this installment of Friends Talking Faith.
